Drishyam 3 teaser: The mastermind returns, but Mohanlal’s George Kutty is seen praying in fear as danger closes in again
The teaser revisits the journey of George Kutty through key moments from the earlier films before shifting into a darker, more uncertain present. For the first time, Mohanlal’s iconic character appears visibly shaken as he questions whether unseen eyes are still watching him.
The wait is finally over for fans of Malayalam cinema’s most gripping thriller franchise. The makers of ‘Drishyam 3’, directed by Jeethu Joseph, have released the first teaser, and it has already set social media buzzing. The film once again brings back superstar Mohanlal in his iconic role as George Kutty. He is this ordinary family man who once outsmarted the police with extraordinary calm.

About the ‘Drishyam 3’ teaser
The teaser begins not with the new story, but with memories, a quick rewind of the first two films. It feels like opening an old diary that still carries heavy secrets.
The first half of the recap is narrated by George Kutty himself. His voice brings back world of a simple man who only wanted to protect his family.
He says: “I am just an ordinary man. My world is small and it comprises just my wife and my children. An unwanted guest invaded our privacy, a guest who had the power to destroy my family. We sent him back forever to ensure he would never return to ruin our lives.”
Then comes the second part of the recap and the mood changes completely.
This time, the voice belongs to a police officer from the opposite side of the story. It hints at frustration, confusion, unfinished business: “It’s like a case that is closed but will never close. Actually, it was not us who were watching him. He was the one watching us.”
After the flashbacks, the teaser moves into fresh territory. George Kutty is seen inside a church, praying quietly. But this is not the confident man fans remember.
His voice carries fear this time.
He says: “This battle of mine began the day I was born. I had no one to call my own. After much slogging and struggle, I built a family for myself. When there came a time that could shatter it, I acted without thinking about repercussions or consequences. In the process, I did not realise how many people I had hurt. Now, I am scared, sir. I don’t know who else is out there watching!”
This moment changes everything.
George Kutty is no longer just the smart protector. He is a man haunted by his past decisions. For the first time, he admits fear, not of the police alone, but of someone or something still unknown.
‘Drishyam 3’ release date
The excitement around ‘Drishyam 3’ has been building for a long time. The film was originally planned for release on April 2, 2026, but it had to be postponed due to tense conditions in the Gulf region.
Now, the new release date is locked for May 21, 2026, and the countdown has officially begun.
Interestingly, Mohanlal had completed his portions of shooting in December last year, and a behind-the-scenes video of him cutting a cake with the crew went viral on social media.
The actor also started working on the film around the same time he was honoured with Indian cinema’s prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
The film’s formal journey began with a traditional puja ceremony at a law college near Kochi in September last year.
Mammootty and Mohanlal on ZEE5. A quiet Tamil drama earning praise on Netflix. A debut director making his mark on JioHotstar. Three reasons to stay in this week.
From Drishyam to Manjummel Boys, how budget discipline and writer-led filmmaking built India's most consistent cinema machine, one tightly written screenplay at a time.
While both films stem from the same story by Jeethu Joseph, the Malayalam and Hindi versions of ‘Drishyam 3’ are taking sharply different creative paths.
